intern architect
NSAA (intern architect) | MArch | BEDS | Dip. Architectural Technology
Originally from the Philippines and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Jam's interest in the built environment was shaped by early exposure to construction through his father's work as a civil engineer and carpenter. This foundation led him to pursue millwork and carpentry before completing an Architectural Technology Advanced Diploma at St. Clair College.
Jam later moved to Halifax to continue his architectural education, earning a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies with Sexton Distinction and a Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University. His graduate thesis explored the adaptive reuse of a deconsecrated church, examining how architecture can transform underutilized buildings into places for learning, making, and gathering. This work reinforced his interest in architecture’s capacity to extend the social and cultural life of existing buildings through adaptation.
With a background spanning both design and construction, Jam is involved in projects from early concept development through to construction. He is particularly interested in design innovation that emerges through the integration of creative thinking, technical rigor, and hands-on making. His experience as a builder brings a practical perspective to the design process, helping bridge conceptual ideas with constructible solutions. Outside of work, he enjoys woodworking, tackling home renovation projects, playing sports, and spending time with friends.
