COLIN REID

carpenter

Growing up in Ottawa, Ontario, Colin spent many a summer day working on his family home with his father. Although not a construction professional, his dad had grown up doing the same thing, and an appreciation for seeing a project come together and figuring out creative solutions to tricky problems is distilled in Colin's blood. After bouncing around between pursuits ranging from online eyewear sales to an organic produce startup, he was drawn back to building things with his hands, and completed a Construction Trades Techniques certificate at George Brown College in Toronto. He worked as a renovation carpenter for three years in Toronto before he felt the call of the ocean, and skylines unencumbered by urban sprawl, and decided to head East and try his hand at building thoughtfully designed homes from foundation to finish with Peter Braithwaite Studio.

Since arriving in Nova Scotia, he has taken full advantage of the East Coast's natural offerings, canoeing, hiking, and camping all over the maritime provinces. Colin has also gotten involved with the Halifax Tool Library in order to be a part of the local woodworking community. He volunteers there when time permits, offering advice when he can, and continuing to learn and sharpen his skills as a carpenter.
